She set it to draw an imitative painting, though I have no idea what made her choose that particular tree as subject instead of other flowers or plants which look more brilliant and flamboyant.
I assume she wished to embody or exemplify the concept of "Wabi & Sabi", or an aesthetic sense in Japanese art emphasising quiet simplicity and subdued refinement.
My mom is certainly endowed with a talent of drawing.
I wonder why I am not.
