Usual as ever, the festival called "Minato Matsuri", or port festival in Onomichi city will be held this weekend on 28th and 29th.
Venue is primarily along the main street in downtown Onomichi.

Onomichi was incorporated as a city in 1169 to be a stronghold to export rice and other stuffs to overseas, mainly China.
In 1741, a town magistrate Kakuzaemon Hirayama renovated Onomichi port so that bigger vessels can enter the port.
This festival started in 1935 to praise his contribution and continued till today with a decade's suspension during wartime.
